There will be no official program during the weekend (Saturday, August 10
and Sunday, August 11), and the participants will be free to do whatever
activity they prefer. There are many options available for
hiking/sightseeing in the Abisko region, including both day trips and
overnight trips to cabins operated by the Swedish Tourist Association. For
an overnight stay in these cabins, one should bring a sleeping bag or
sheets/bedclothes. Other options include e.g. going by train to Narvik (in
Norway) and various guided hiking trips in the Abisko area. Bring your
hiking boots and mosquito repellant !
The simplest way to travel to Abisko is by flying via Stockholm to Kiruna (airport code: KRN). An alternative route is via Oslo to Harstad/Narvik airport (airport code: EVE), and then taking the airport bus (1h20min) to Narvik train station.
For air travel to Kiruna or Harstad/Narvik, see the time tables
Braathens (Harstad/Narvik only).
For bus or train travel from Kiruna or Narvik to Abisko, see the time table

The train also stops at Abisko Tourist Station, 2 km west of Camp Abisko.

Description of the venue:
is situated at the small village Abisko about 200 km north of the
arctic circle and about 385 m above sea level on the south shore of
Lake Torneträsk. Nearest cities are Kiruna (ca. 100 km) and Narvik
(in Norway, ca. 80 km dist.). From Abisko there is a
magnificent view of the "Lapland gate".
The highest mountain in the area reaches almost 2000 m. The average
annual temperature at low altitudes is approximately -1,00 C,
but we can expect long sunny days with a temperature of plus 5-15.
Camp Abisko is situated at the northern end of Abisko National Park (established in 1909).
The tourist seasons are in late winter, spring and summer.
At the time we are there we can expect to be able to do
hiking tours and excursions, as there should be no snow on the ground except at high elevations.
