Description of the venue:

Camp Abisko is situated at the small village Abisko about 200 km north of the arctic circle and about 385 m above sea level on the south shore of Lake Torneträsk. Nearest cities are Kiruna (ca. 100 km) and Narvik (in Norway, ca. 80 km dist.). From Abisko there is a magnificent view of the "Lapland gate". The highest mountain in the area reaches almost 2000 m. The average annual temperature at low altitudes is approximately -1,00 C, but we can expect long sunny days with a temperature of plus 5-15. Camp Abisko is situated at the northern end of Abisko National Park (established in 1909). The tourist seasons are in late winter, spring and summer. At the time we are there we can expect to be able to do hiking tours and excursions, as there should be no snow on the ground except at high elevations.
