Oslo, Norway

Travel Information

  • Express train: Taking a taxi will be rather expensive (more than 600 NOK), so the recommended method is to take the express train (flytog) to Oslo S: after you went through customs, turn right, get a ticket (ticket machine or from the counter). On Saturdays and Sundays trains run 16, 36, and 56 min past the hour (until 0:36). The time till Oslo S (Central) is 22 min. A return ticket is exactly twice the price of a single ticket (160 NOK).

  • At Oslo S, you can either walk to the hotel Gyldenløve (30 min) or take the tram (called the trikk) number 19 to Vibes gate.. The hotel is located on Bogstadveien 20. Get a ticket for 20 NOK before you enter the tram (or 30 NOK when bought on the tram). Tickets can be bought at the ticket machine or from a Narvesen newsagent shops.

  • Both the hotel and the University can be seen on this map. The hotel is located on Bogstadveien 20, which not too far from Majorstuen.

  • The meeting takes place in the Svein Rosseland building, which is Building 26 on this map. The number is difficult to read, but it is just at the end of Sem Sælands vei. If you come via Tunnelbana (T), get off at Blindern and make your way to Bulding 26.

  • Here some more detailed travel information that was adapted from some other meeting.

  • Here is the MapQuest link. To get from the hotel to the institute, walk "left" (i.e. northwest) on Bogstadveien until you get to Kirkeveien. Turn right (i.e. northeast) until Blinderveien. On Blinderveien turn left (west-northwest) until you see Building 19 (Geology) on the left. The just walk straight into Sem Sælands vei.

If several people travel together (e.g. on the way back to the airport) you can all the flytaxi (phone: 7704 1000).
