Astrobiology: Life in extreme conditions

Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics, Blindern, Oslo

21 - 22 November 2005

A workshop on `Astrobiology: Life in extreme conditions'
will be held in Oslo, Norway, 21-22 November 2005.

Background and Purpose

In many countries Astrobiology networks are emerging. NORDITA is currently supporting an Astrobiology Nordic Project. The goal is to bring people from various relevant disciplines together (astronomy, biology, biochemistry, geology, biophysics and geophysics). As usual, there will be plenty of time for discussions. To get an idea about this meeting, see the home pages of earlier meetings in Copenhagen in January 2004 and January 2005, and in Turku in August 2004. There have also been proceedings from the last meeting that wee published in a special edition of IJA. Furthermore, in January 2006 we will be organizing a Winter School on Astrobiology in Finnish Lapland.

Scientific organizing committee: Anja C. Andersen, Nils-Kåre Birkeland Axel Brandenburg (chair), Øystein Elgarøy, Birgitta Nordström, Harry Lehto, Kirsi Lehto, Karen Guldbæk Schmidt.

Local organizing committee: Morad Amarzguioui, Håkon Dahle, Øystein Elgarøy (chair).

For practical matters regarding registration, changes, etc, please email our conference secretary, Hanne Bergen, at bergen@nordita.dk. Regarding local matters, and since Hanne is in Copenhagen, you may also want to contact directly Øystein Elgarøy.
