Beaming and Jets in Gamma Ray Bursts
Copenhagen, August 12-30, 2002
We intend to make the Institute a very exciting environment for students. We will select a number of highly motivated and qualified graduate students to participate in the Institute. Our goals are to expose them to a rich and exciting scientific environment where they will attend presentations by guest staff as well as panel and small group discussions. Most importantly, however, they will have the chance to interact and collaborate with the visitors during the workshop period. Through this process, students will have the opportunity to explore and reaccess their interest towards Physics and Astronomy in general, in addition to learning about the exciting topics of Gamma-Ray Bursts and Astrophysical Jets.
Our ultimate goal is to help increase the pool of qualified domestic graduates desiring to go on to post-doctoral life in the selected topic (GRBs and Jets) in particular and Astrophysics in general. At the Institute, students will come in daily contact with worldwide known scientists, and increase their chances for future collaborations, and for post-doctoral positions in countries outside Scandinavia.

TBD
Given the institute budget, limited financial support is available for students.
Rooms/lounges for students will be provided in the same hall/floor as the guest scientists (including additional ethernet connectivity as necessary). While students could congregate in such offices, they are nevertheless expected to interact among themselves and with the guests.
The number of Nordic students that can be accommodated is primarily a question of practical limitations. The number of potential Nordic student participants is certainly sufficient to fill all slots that can be made available.
