Talk title: The topology of U-duality (sub-)groups
Abstract:
Lie algebra's play a crucial tole in (super)gravity, but the global properties
of the groups they generate are hardly discussed. We outline some relevant
results from group theory, and discuss 2 applications: The possibility to
interpret coset sigma models as resulting from higher dimensional theories
(oxidation); and, recent proposals for ``Generalized Holonomy''-groups as
symmetry groups of M-theory.
