Talk title: Intersecting Brane Worlds - a Path to the Standard Model?
Abstract:
In this talk I will shortly review the status of string model
building. In particular the main emphasis will be given to
IIA orientifold constructions, where D6-branes are wrapped
around 3-cycles of the internal Calabi-Yau space.
We will discuss the gauge boson and the chiral matter
spectrum, which can be very close the spectrum of
the standard model, as well as the question of space-time
supersymmetry. In the last part of the talk we will address
some particular phenomenological issues, like gauge coupling
unification, proton decay and flavor changing neutral currents.
