Talk title: A matrix model dual to type 0B string theory in two dimensions
Abstract:
Type 0 string theories in two dimensions admit dual descriptions
in terms of the quantum mechanics of large N matrices. In particular, the
type 0B theory is described in terms of a hermitian matrix model with a
potential symmetric under the parity-like Z_2 transformation
of the matrix. The matrix model formulation suggests that the type 0B
vacuum is non-perturbatively stable. The model arises in the description
of a collection of N unstable D0-branes in the theory. Therefore, this is
another classic example of a holographic open/closed string duality.
