Talk title: Non-perturbative Results from Perturbative Field Theory

Abstract:
The aim is to illustrate how one can obtain informations about non perturbative physics computing certain effective superpotentials in perturbative field theory. After a brief presentation of the necessary background in string theory and matrix theory, the emphasis will be on the field theory side, trying to explain how one can compute exactly holomorphic contributions, i.e. the glueball superpotentials. Explicit examples will be described in detail, both at the planar and at the non planar level.
